Let's put a pin in it!

Hello all,

I have fallen off the blog bandwagon for the past couple weeks. First, I haven't been doing Project365 because I've been so busy with school. So much is going on right now that I've barely had time to think. I also came down with a nasty case of the flu this past Friday. My whole family had it and I was taking such pride and joy in the fact that I was the only one who didn't have it. But I fell asleep studying for a test on Thursday night and woke up feeling nauseated. After a couple hours of trying to convince myself that I was not ill, I got up and tried to function. I was really shaky and so I tried to sit upright and study some more. I looked up online, there was my first mistake, trying to figure out what I should eat or drink to get rid of it. After looking at a few m.d sites, I decided to eat a few crackers and sip a coke. It took me fifteen minutes to eat the cracker and I made it through about 1/8 of the soda before going to the bathroom and losing it all--just a side note, it had been six years since  I'd last thrown up so I was mad. :)

I had 2 tests that day so I forced myself to be alright enough to make it to school. Once I got to my Polisci test, everything is fuzzy from there. I remember sitting down and feeling very dizzy. A friend of mine told me a funny story about Andrew Jackson coining the term 'OK' and I remember the words on the test not making any sense. I stumbled down to my next test and got done in fifteen minutes.

I'm still feeling lethargic and tired but the bug itself is all gone, thank God! But all this to say, I will be attempting to get caught up with Project365 and doing the last day of the 30 Day Blogger Challenge (which had turned into a 45 day challenge) ;)

Day 29--It's time to talk about what we've learned today

Let's see, in the past month what have I learned?

  • I've learned that I will never eat fish unless it's breaded in crap. Thus, I will not be eating much sea food in my lifetime.
  • I've learned that Mumford and Sons is pretty much the coolest thing since apple juice.
  • I've learned that some people really really love Christina Aguilera. I mean really really really.
  • I've learned that the whole 'trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding' thing is not a suggestion. It's a command.
  • I've learned that I hate planning birthday parties. :)
  • I've learned that I hate the smell of the Auditorium building.
  • I've learned that I can write a paper in thirty minutes.
  • I've learned that the sound of vomiting is the only thing in this world that makes me want to hurl.
  • I've learned that I'm pretty good at editing.
  • I've learned that Spring Break should be longer than 1 week
  • I've learned that the nail strengthener I've been putting on my nails did not work. I had all ten of my fingernails split over Spring Break. :P
  • I've learned that I still have a lot more to learn.

Day 28--Cause I struggle with forward motion

2010
No smile
2011
Smile

So I took a break from the 30 Day Challenge for Spring Break, but now I'm back for the last few entries. Today, here are two pictures of me: One from last year and one from this year. So what has changed?
  • Growth
    • Physically: A lot of weight fluctuations. :) Honestly, I struggle with my weight a lot. It's a daily battle to make the right choices as far as diet and exercise are concerned. So I get on and off the weight loss bandwagon. I am currently struggling to loose fifteen to thirty pounds (and just FYI, I usually don't get jacked up about the numbers. I don't weigh every day or every week for that matter). Over the course of this year it's my guesstimate that I've lost around 5-10 pounds. Like I said, I am horribly inconsistent with eating healthy and exercising on a regular basis but I won't give up. I know it's not about being skinny, it's about being healthy. If the goal was to be skinny, I would have given up already. :)
    • Emotionally/Spiritually: Last year I was a bit of a mess from a lot of things that had happened in '09. I won't go into great detail, but suffice it to say that I was struggling with depression, apathy, and trust. I wasn't always a walking emotional basket case, but I always had something to be upset about. God has used countless mediums to help me move on from the past and embrace His presence. I know it's a Sunday School answer, but what helped me accept the past and begin working towards moving on was praying and reading my Bible. This past year I've grown more than I thought possible. It's not so much that I've learned all new things (though there have been plenty of new lessons learned), but the basic concepts (like God loves me, God's sovereign and is to be totally trusted, nothing can take away my salvation, I don't have to let the past define who I am, my sole purpose in life is to bring glory to Jesus Christ...etc) have been reinforced and I feel like I really 'get' them more than I have before. Praise God for that.

I'm just wonderin', I need to ask is my sweet man on that train? (Day 69)

Alright, first day of Spring Break was long :) I got up at 5:30 and we were on the road by 6. We drove about three hours to a small town called Bertram where we got on a real train :) The train took us to a small town called Bernet about one hour away. We stopped, ate lunch at a really small Mexican restaurant and then we saw a gun show :) It was really loud  but it was fun :) After that, we got back on the train and headed to our hotel in Marble Falls. We swam for a couple hours and then went to a little place called Blue Bonnet Cafe for dinner. The food was out of this world and the slices of pie were so tall!

That's a lot of pie

Tomorrow we're going back to Bernet for a river cruise on the Buchanan River. There are waterfalls and, hopefully, eagles. That goes for a few hours and then we're going to spend one night in a stone cottage on the river. My sisters and I are going to do a major photo shoot (we even brought matching skirts :D). Anyways, here's the photo of the day :)

Day 69

Spring break :)

Alright, Spring Break is upon most of us so I would like to wish everybody a restful vacation. I am going to pause the 30-Day Blogger Challenge for the week because my family and I are going on vacation. We're going to a lot of little towns to see some pretty cool stuff. We're going on the River Walk in San Antonio, we're doing a river cruise on Lake Buchanan (hoping to see some eagles), and we'll also go to Sea World. So suffice it to say, I will have a lot of pictures and--hopefully--stories about what I'll be up to.

It's two in the morning right now and I'm going to be getting up in about three hours. :) We'll probably be staying in some places that don't have internet so I may not post every day this week, but I will try to update as much as I can. Thanks for reading :)

Cheers!
